Timber windows in a historic apartment in Amsterdam

Timber frames made from scratch for a two-storey apartment in central Amsterdam, with openings up to 3.5 m and the drawing accuracy a historic façade demands.

The task

Supply and install new windows in a two-storey apartment in the historic centre of Amsterdam, reproducing the architecture of the old building exactly and securing thermal and acoustic comfort inside.

The SKLO solution

  • Spruce: the reinforced Naturo 80 profile, chosen to carry the tall openings — the French window reaches 3.5 m.
  • Double-chamber double glazing with acoustic lamination: cuts urban noise and adds security.
  • Solar-control glass Guardian Sun: limits overheating without darkening the interior.
  • Precision surveying: the biggest challenge was recording and replicating the original drawing of the stone surrounds and arched lintels of the protected façade.

The result gives the building back its classical image and brings light, quiet and contemporary comfort inside.
